Ornament Thursday

My friend Candie Cooper lives in China, which makes it hard for us to get together and craft, as you might imagine. We mostly craft together on the interweb and she had the brilliant idea of an ornament round-robin. We'll be doing it for the next few weeks and everyone is invited! If you want to join in the fun, leave your link in the comments or just shoot me an email.

Here's my ornament for today. I tell you, the photos don't do it justice. The top ornament is the boring, $1 store-bought version. The bottom ornament is my retro-fabulous version.

I spread a thin coat of Ranger's Glossy Accents on each letter and shook mixed red and gold mini marbles onto the surface of the letters. Let them dry, then went over them again with the Glossy Accents. Once it was dry, I added the 16-gauge ColourCraft wire hanger with Artgirlz felt beads, some gold filigree spacers and a big wooden bead. The result is a funky, vintage looking ornament. You could use Glossy Accents and mini marbles to dress up any flat ornament. Even just switching out the plain ribbon for a beaded hanger makes a big difference.

Here are a bunch of other sites to visit for this week's Ornament Thursday:
